SURVEY: ARE YOU BEING UNFAIRLY FORCED TO USE YOUR FLEXIBLE OR ANNUAL LEAVE AT CHRISTMAS?

Announcement graphic reading: 'ARE YOU BEING UNFAIRLY FORCED TO USE YOUR FLEXIBLE OR ANNUAL LEAVE? COMPLETE THE ONLINE SURVEY ASAP.'

Dear Member,

A number of you have highlighted your concerns that Southend Borough Council will be enforcing a closure day on Monday 24th December and that employees (except critical services staff) will need to use either flexible or annual leave to cover this closure.

While some workers may be able to work from home, others cannot and will therefore be forced to use a days leave.

We believe this is an unfair demand which doesn’t form part of your contract of employment and undermines these terms and conditions.

To help us challenge what we believe to be an unfair demand please complete the following short survey ASAP:

SURVEY: ARE YOU BEING UNFAIRLY FORCED TO USE YOUR FLEXIBLE OR ANNUAL LEAVE AT CHRISTMAS?

Does your contract of employment state that you are required to take annual leave due to compulsory closure days?(required)

Have you been notified in writing of such an expectation?(required)

Can you work from home?(required)

Can you work at another SBC venue?(required)

Are you against being forced to take flexible or annual leave due to compulsory closure days?(required)

Alternatively, click here to download the survey, and then print, complete and return to a Southend UNISON Steward, Officer or the Branch Office ASAP.

All the best,

Claire Wormald
