Hundreds attend The People’s Assembly Against Austerity conference in London on Saturday 2 June

Hundreds of trade unionists, political activists, community campaigners, politicians and everyday people attended The People’s Assembly CHANGE IS COMING: HOW CAN WE ACHIEVE AN ANTI-AUSTERITY GOVERNMENT? conference in London on Saturday 2 June.

Insightful discussions against austerity, cuts and privatisation in our workplaces, communities and welfare services were held at three venues with sessions including: How can we fight an establishment backlash? How many houses will solve the problem? Can we beat the mainstream media? and Does our economy need immigration? with a final plenary focused on How can we achieve an anti-austerity Government? It is clear the number of diverse voices against austerity are growing fast and we must ensure that these calls for change are heard through a series of actions, mass events and protests.

So make sure you’re heard and attend the forthcoming Our NHS is 70 celebration and demonstration in London on Saturday 30 June. UNISON Southend-on-Sea will be organising a coach to this event, details for booking your seat will be posted early next week.
