On Saturday 21 July, UNISON members joined hundreds of people on the Southend Pride Parade – the culmination of a range of fantastic events throughout the week to celebrate the LGBT+ community.
The parade gathered at Royal Plaza and was opened by Southend Pride organiser, Dan Turpin, UNISON Southend-on-Sea Secretary, Claire Wormald, and the Mayor of Southend, Councillor Derek Jarvis.
After these speeches and a workout with Active Life everyone proudly marched up the High Street to the Festival in Warrior Square Gardens, and then on to an After Party at The Cliff Pub.
