On 20th July Southend Pride Parade and Festival took place in the centre of town. Southend Unison proudly marched in the Parade, and ran a busy and successful stall at the Festival.
This year saw 1000 people on the Parade, and 5000 at the Festival, despite the early rain! As the sun shone through, attendees enjoyed live entertainment on stage, a children’s area featuring drag story time, a colourful array of community and trading stalls, and the varied food and bars on site.
Southend Pride is a community and political event, celebrating diversity and inclusion, supporting the local LGBTQI community, and the continuing fight for equality around the world.
