AGM Invite 2023

The 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Southend-on-Sea Local Government branch of UNISON will take place in person on Tuesday 21st March at 5:15 p.m. in Committee Room 3, Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea. There will be a buffet and guest speakers.

Why not ‘hybrid’?  UNISON nationally have ended the temporary rule which allowed for hybrid meetings during Covid. Now we need to amend our own branch rules to include the ability to hold hybrid meetings.  Branch rules can only be amended at an AGM. We will therefore be presenting amendments to our branch rules to allow this in the future.

Please join us to vote on these  rule amendments and to elect next year’s Executive (which runs the Branch from day to day), debate policy motions, question Branch Officers and listen to reports about the past year and plans for the future. We will also welcome a guest speaker, UNISON’s President, Angela Egan.

It is important you take part in order to make sure that we are quorate (have enough members present) to make decisions – this is part of UNISON’s democracy, of which we are rightly proud.

  • Nominations and motions should be submitted by 4 p.m. on Wednesday 8th March 2023. However nominations and emergency motions may also be accepted at the AGM if members agree.

    Reports from officers, motions received and nominations will be discussed and voted on at the meeting. We will have hard copies of reports and motions at the meeting and will email out  beforehand where possible.

    We will be offering refreshments with a buffet and stalls with information about UNISON, our campaigns and services
